Triple Ribbon Cutting at Hulbert Headquarters

HULBERT — On Friday, Jan. 30, Lake Region Electric Cooperative and its subsidiary, Lake Region Technology & Communications, celebrated the grand opening of their new Hulbert headquarters with a triple ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event brought together members of the Fort Gibson, Tahlequah and Wagoner Chambers of Commerce, LREC’s Board of Trustees, leadership team, employees, state and local officials, community leaders and cooperative partners. The previous headquarters, originally built in 1968 and expanded in 1997, served the cooperative for decades. As membership, fiber internet subscriptions, and staff continued to grow, it became clear a larger, more modern facility was needed to maintain the high level of service members deserve.

The new 55,000-square-foot headquarters, constructed on the same property, was designed with members at the forefront. Every aspect of the building, from expanded office and meeting spaces to upgraded technology and security, is intended to enhance the services members rely on every day. Construction began in October 2023 and was completed in fall 2025, resulting in a facility that will support LREC and LRTC for decades to come. The new headquarters allows teams to work more efficiently, collaborate more effectively, and respond more quickly to the needs of electric and fiber customers. Ultimately, the facility is about supporting members by improving workflow, enhancing customer service, and providing a secure environment for employees as they serve members, fiber customers, and the communities Lake Region serves.

Key features are:

  • A dedicated tech support call center to improve response times for fiber customers.
  • An expanded boardroom and additional collaboration spaces to enhance member-focused planning and services.
  • Larger, more functional offices and an expanded mailroom to support smoother day-to-day operations.
  • A hardened, secure data room designed to protect critical systems that keep services reliable.
  • A Marketing and Member Services wing to support member and fiber customer needs, as well as community outreach.
  • An event center and industrial kitchen designed to support crews during extended outages, major restoration efforts, and mutual aid responses, while also accommodating large cooperative and employee meetings and trainings.

The expanded facility enables employees to serve members more efficiently and comfortably, positioning the cooperative for continued growth. With the new Hulbert headquarters, LREC and LRTC are well-equipped to deliver reliable electric service, high-speed fiber internet, and exceptional member support for generations to come.

Serving Adair, Cherokee, Mayes, Muskogee, Rogers, Sequoyah and Wagoner counties, Lake Region supports 26,650 active electric meters and more than 14,500 fiber subscribers. Maintaining 3,211 miles of line with a team of 124 full-time employees, the cooperative is committed to meeting the needs of its members across the region.
